Visitor’s Policies
Thank you for respecting all staff and guests!
We want your visit to the Imaginarium to be enjoyable and memorable. To preserve that opportunity, we expect all visitors and guests to follow these policies while respecting all staff and guests.
Five Rules of Play:
- Be present! Stay and play together. Adults are responsible for monitoring children at all times. Limit your technology use and engage with your group.
- Use walking feet and indoor voices. No running. Shoes are required at all times.
- Share and respect the space. Be considerate of others playing near you. Sharing with others, making new friends, and playing together!
- Please clean up together. Make it fun! Leave the space ready for the next visitors to play and learn.
- All food and beverages must be kept in the lobby area (including chewing gum, water bottles, formula, etc.). The Comfort Nook is available for quiet space if needed.
Dress Code
All guests are required to wear proper attire, including tops, bottoms and shoes, appropriate for a family facility. Derogatory or vulgar language on clothing is strictly prohibited along with obscene, hateful, and discriminatory language or images.
Inappropriate Language
Offensive, abusive, threatening, harassing, discriminatory or violent language is not permitted. Use of hate language or symbolism, including expressions targeted at race, nationality, gender identity, sexuality, religion, age, disability, education, physicality or any other protected status is prohibited.
Inappropriate Behavior
Behavior that is offensive, abusive, unsafe, threatening, harassing or violent or that puts yourself or others at risk of harm or interfering with another visitor’s enjoyment of the museum is prohibited. In addition, indecent exposure or sexual acts or behavior is prohibited.
Vandalism
Vandalizing, misusing, or damaging exhibits, buildings, or property is not permitted.
Soliciting
Solicitation, including unauthorized distribution of pamphlets or any other literature, including campaigning, is not permitted.
As an accessible and inclusive organization, Children’s Imaginarium welcomes visitors with service animals. Following the guidelines of the Americans with Disabilities Act and Wisconsin State Law, a service animal is defined as any animal that is individually trained to do work or perform tasks for the benefit of a person with a disability.
All service animals (and therapy animals, as allowed) brought into the museum must be licensed, vaccinated, and under their handler’s control for the entirety of the visit. While we invite every visitor to enjoy all our exhibit spaces, animals may be prohibited from certain areas of the museum for the health and safety of all visitors and our resident animals. At this time, we would ask that all animals stay out of climbing up into the Treemendous exhibit.
Service animals may be removed from the premises if:
- They are not housebroken.
- If they are not under the handler’s control and are disruptive (excessive barking, wandering, etc.)
- If they pose a direct threat to the health or safety of others on the premises that cannot be eliminated in any reasonable way other than via its removal/exclusion from the premises.
Safety
Designated staff maintain first aid and CPR training. First aid supplies are available at the Front Desk and in other designated staff areas. Please notify staff immediately of any injury, illness, illness, spill, unsafe condition, or emergency.
AED
An AED unit is in the exhibit hall on the wall near the bathrooms and Comfort Nook.
Security Cameras
The building and property are monitored by security cameras.
Cleanliness
High touch areas are sanitized throughout the day. A thorough, facility wide sanitizing process is carried out regularly.
We encourage all manipulatives that have been put in a child’s mouth or otherwise soiled be placed in one of the cleaning bins located throughout the Exhibit Hall (near the Farmer’s Market) or turned in to a staff member.
We encourage all guests to notify a staff member if an area or object needs attention.
Background Checks
Background checks are conducted on all staff and volunteers.
To ensure the safety and comfort of all Children’s Imaginarium visitors, employees and guests, the following items and behaviors are strictly prohibited on company premises:
- Smoking/vaping anywhere inside the facility and outside within 15 feet of the entrances.
- Alcohol/illegal drugs
- Weapons or items that could reasonably be used to harm others, including firearms, explosives, fireworks, tasers, and knives with blades longer than 3 inches, except as otherwise required by law.
- Abusive/obscene/offensive language
- Drones
- Shoes with wheels/hoverboards/skateboards
- Outside equipment, decorations, signs, or materials that may damage exhibits, obstruct walkways, create a safety hazard, or interfere with operations.
Any person who finds a lost item should turn it into the Front Desk. Staff will date the item and all unclaimed items will be held for a period of 14 days from the date they are received. After that period, unclaimed items will be either donated to charity or disposed of safely.
Any perishable items, food, or items that pose a health/safety risk (i.e. personal hygiene products) will be disposed of immediately.
